J.K. Simmons Gets Ready For ‘Justice League’ Role

Actor J.K. Simmons is set to play the role of Commissioner James Gordon in Zack Snyder’s Justice League movie. Photos are surfacing online to show Simmons’ preparation for the role including getting a Gordon-esque mustache and working out.

Simmons was seen at a recent red carpet premiere event sporting a mustache that is trimmed to resemble James Gordon’s mustache in the comics.

But that is not all the actor is doing. Additionally, Simmons’ personal trainer Aaron Williamson posted a picture of the actor pumping some serious weights in anticipation for filming. As you can see, this version of James Gordon is not to be trifled with, sporting crazy muscular arms that would make Batman proud.

In the comics, Gordon was a military special forces officer prior to joining the police. So it is not far-out to see Gordon of the movies be very buff and muscular. The real takeaway here is the level of dedication Simmons has for his role as Gordon. The amount of hard gym work – and presumably hard mustache growing work – is a real feat, which makes it slightly sad that he is only going to be a small, supporting character in the movie. Unless… Gordon is training to be a member of the Justice League. Hey, somebody’s got to take Superman’s place on the team, since he is currently dead at the end of Batman v Superman.

Justice League hits theaters November 17, 2017.
