‘Injustice: Gods Among Us’: ‘Arkham Knight’ Catwoman Skin Now Available for Mobile Game

Fans of the popular mobile game will be draining batteries on their devices, myself included, in effort to collect the newest skin from yesterday’s update: Arkham Knight Catwoman.

For those not in the know, Injustice: Gods Among Us is a popular fighting game released back in April 2013, across a number of platforms.  In the game, the Joker ends up paying the ultimate price for his most recent killing spree, which included the death of a pregnant Lois Lane, at the hands of an enraged Superman.  This action has a polarizing impact in the superhero/villain community bringing a sense of “if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem” mentality to the world.  The game is so successful, it has spawned not only the aforementioned mobile game, but also a long running comic book series now in its “Year 5.”

Whilst the mobile game doesn’t have the same level of storytelling as its predecessor, there is a lot of enjoyment to having the different versions of your favourite characters battle it out, especially given the various ways of playing the game, with a Challenge Mode, Play, Online Challenges and a Survivor Mode adding a level of variety.  Keeping the game fresh is a massive task.  The latest update will also feature Blackest Night Doomsday and an Earth 2 Solomon Grundy along with an Alien Artifact which when evolved, will be a Mother Box

Despite the creativity on show, critics may well say that these characters aren’t “new” as advertised, being as they are skins of existing characters already available in the game.  In fact, Static was the last all new character added to the game and that was some time ago.  However, there is a logic to some of the variants;  the new  Catwoman has an ability that gets stronger when teamed up with other Arkham Knight characters and the New 52 Wonder Woman is able to power up other members of the Justice League. To date, Warner Bros, have done well to add characters that have cross media appeal, from the inclusion of the CW Flash and Reverse Flash to the Dawn of Justice Trinity.

The mobile game is available on IOS and Android and offers the choice of in-app purchases. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I am 27 battles away from collecting the new Catwoman.
