Director David Ayer Provides Hint Towards Batman’s Presence in ‘Suicide Squad’ and Its Relation to ‘Batman v Superman’

In two of the Suicide Squad trailers thus far, we’ve peeped the presence of Batfleck. It not only revisits one of the highlights of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but also connects the two movies, finally giving us a DC movie universe we’ve wanted since Marvel executed theirs so brilliantly.

Fandango hunted down David Ayer at CinemaCon and barraged him with a ton of question with regard to Batfleck’s role in the movie. Fandango’s asked how much Batfleck will be in Suicide Squad, to which Ayer replied, “Just the right amount.”

Fandango’s line of questioning after that, followed by Ayer’s response is very telling, therefore, I will be directly quoting Fandango here:

As for when Suicide Squad takes place — before or after Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice — and whether it will acknowledge the events of BvS, Ayer was reluctant to go into details, simply saying “the answer to all of the above is yes.”

Let’s break this down. Fandango is asking if Suicide Squad will take place before or after BvS. Ayer replies yes to all. I suppose that means that Suicide Squad will have flashbacks pre-BvS, while the movie takes place during or after the events of BvS.

With just a few words, Ayer gave a TON away. I always assumed this movie would take place before BvS, but I’m glad that I’m wrong.

The article also quotes both Will Smith, who plays Deadshot, and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who plays Killer Croc. Both of whom admit that their characters have fought Batfleck.

My excitement intensifies.

What do you think? Do you like the fact that Suicide Squad will be non-linear in storytelling, jumping to different time periods? Or do you think that’s too much? Let me know.

Suicide Squad will hit theatres August 5th.
