Review Roundup: Green Lantern #51 & Green Arrow #51

Green Lantern #51

Writer: Robert Venditti

Artist: Rafa Sandoval

This issue is kind of a strange beast. At the end of the previous issue, Hal essentially turned into a construct, a concept that could have and should have been explored in greater detail, yet is resolved a bit too quickly and easily. There’s also nothing having to do with Parallax, whom you may remember from last month’s fight that had no conclusion. Instead, the wealth of this issue focuses on space pirates.

While not as focused as one would have desired, Green Lantern #51 is still a decently entertaining read featuring gorgeous art from Rafa Sandoval. Hopefully they can wrap up all these threads well in next month’s concluding issue.

Green Arrow #51

Writer: Benjamin Percy

Artist: Szymon Kudranski

This should have been Green Arrow #50 – or at least half of it.

Those who were disappointed not to find a bloody battle featuring Green Arrow and Deathstroke in last month’s issue will get it here. This installment is quite action-packed and Slade Wilson fans will get a kick out of it. In fact, it honestly felt like a Deathstroke book the more it progressed.

Another major development that occurs is the finding of Doctor Miracle, who has blood containing uncanny healing properties. I’m guessing this is what will lead to Oliver being cured of his Warg condition and the final page isn’t exactly what it seems.

This penultimate issue of the Emerald Archer’s New 52 run is a fair read with Szymon Kudranski’s art being the highlight.
