Deborah Snyder Says that Cyborg and The Flash Have a ‘Nice Comradery’ in the ‘Flash’ Movie

As the dust settles on the foundation of the DC Extended Universe, we can now look to the future to see what DC/WB have in store for us. Next up on DC’s lineup is Suicide Squad and following that, Wonder Woman in 2017. Suicide Squad doesn’t seem altogether connected to the Justice League so far except for the possible appearance of Batfleck. So really, our next move toward the Justice League is Wonder Woman. But what of beyond that even? Just how will WB/DC continue sprinkling the wider universe in these individual movies?

Deborah Snyder, wife of Zack Snyder and producer, sat down with Forbes recently. The interview, of course, talks about the DC Extended Universe, with Snyder repeating the whole “filmmaker-driven” approach to the whole thing. Snyder and co. are very much interested in a broad outline for the direction of the DCEU, but they also want each director to be able to make their own movies, tonally different from one another. When explaining that, Snyder makes examples of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad compared to Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman. She also explains how Ezra Miller as the Flash changes the tone for that movie as well. In that explanation, she hints that Cyborg may be appearing in The Flash movie.

She says:

“David Ayer’s Suicide Squad has such an amazing, brash tone. It’s fun and it’s about the villains, and it’s super-different than Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman, which is an origin story and tells her story. As you can imagine, when we get to the Flash movie, Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher — who plays Cyborg — are kind of our youngest characters, and they have a really nice comradery with each other. Ezra is super funny, so the tone of that film will be very different than the rest of them.”

With big flashy (heh), click-baity headlines come up on my news feed, I’d normally tear through this quote with a fine-toothed comb to see if people are reading too much into it. However, I can’t dispute it. She specifically mentions the Flash movie in the same sentence as Cyborg and how they will get along because they are close in age.

Either way, that’s pretty interesting. Personally, I’ve never known Cyborg and Flash to really have any relationship beyond a friendly, professional one as Leaguers. Also, more universe-building, yo! Flash and Cyborg on-screen, teaming up! This is exciting.

What do you think? Not a good choice to pair the two together? Or do you think that Flash and Cyborg will create the best bromance ever? Let me know.
