Brian McManamon Cast as Clayface in ‘Gotham’

ComicBook.com reports that Brian McManamon has been cast as Basil Karlo (AKA Clayface) on Gotham. Very little details exist at this time as to how he will appear or what Karlo’s role on the show will ultimately become, including whether or not we will actually see him turn into the monstrous Clayface we know from the comics.

But this does confirm reports from last year’s Wondercon that Clayface would make an appearance in the show’s sophomore season. Karlo’s original appearance in Detective Comics #40 would make for a great debut if updated, as it saw the disgruntled actor learn that a classic film he starred in was being remade, then proceeding to kill the cast in the order in which their characters died. In a way, with the current climate of horror films and the oversaturation of remakes, that story would be almost more relevant now.

While McManamon has appeared on TV before in shows like Gossip Girl and Project Beth, he is primarily a stage actor, something that is honestly perfect for the theatricality of the Karlo incarnation of Clayface.

Stay tuned for more news on this story as it develops.

Gotham airs Mondays at 8pm on FOX.
