Fox CEO Says ‘Gotham’ Spinoffs are a Possibility

Fox CEO Gary Newman says he would “certainly be open to considering” spinoffs for the Gotham TV show.

At the Television Critics Association winter press tour, Newman told reporters that while he is open to pursuing spinoffs for Gotham, there have not been any serious considerations at Fox yet. He also went on to imply that while the Fox network would be on board, the real decision lies with Warner Brothers and DC Entertainment whether to go ahead with it or not.

“We haven’t had any conversations with Warners about whether or not they’d want to do a spinoff series. I think that would be an issue for DC. It isn’t quite clear to me that they’d be ready to do that, but it’s a good idea.”

In any case, the real question if there is a spinoff of Gotham, what characters or events would they focus on? Would they have a series dedicated to one of the regular supporting characters on the show, like Oswald Cobblepot or Selina Kyle? Or perhaps they could put the spotlight on Jerome, a.k.a. Not-the-Joker. I personally hope the hypothetical spinoff is about Gotham City before the events of Gotham starring a young Thomas Wayne.
