Suicide Squad director David Ayer let out new details about Jared Leto as the Joker and how Batman figures into the film exactly.
According to Ayer, the Joker’s perspective is that it is his world and we are all just living in it. And that world is also all about him. He says, “He’s the king of Planet Joker.”
Ayer went on to talk about Ben Affleck’s Batman’s role in Suicide Squad, “We made him fight… He’s awesome (as Batman). … You really sense that but for the grace of God, he himself would be doing some really foul stuff out in the world.”
Affleck also had some thoughts about the movie, despite being allegedly “bound by nondisclosure clauses a mile long.” Batfleck extolled his participation in the film saying, “It felt like I have such a cool cousin. This thing that is so awesome is somehow related to me, and that was really exciting because it started to feel like a constellation of things, and I’ve never had that feeling.”
Sounds good, Affleck. I too am pumped to see how the cinematic DC universe starts to unfold.
Suicide Squad opens in theaters on August 5, 2016.
