Star Wars Author Michael Kogge Writing Junior Prequel Novel to ‘BvS’

Happy belated Batman Day, folks! Unfortunately, I didn’t have a chance to visit any festivities, but I did manage to celebrate by playing Batman: Arkham Knight and watched a few Bat-centric episodes of Justice League: Unlimited.

The news coming out from yesterday is that Michael Kogge, known for authoring a few books in the Star Wars Rebels series of books and is currently in the middle of the junior novel for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, has been tapped to write the junior prequel novel to Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Kogge originally revealed the news in an interview on a local news website, while promoting his newest book, Star Wars: Everything You Need to Know.

Speaking on the subject, he said: “It’s such a pleasure to be writing Batman and Superman. I’ve always loved those characters so it’s working with another mythology.”

Yesterday, he announced it on his Twitter:

Presumably, the book will take place after the events of Man of Steel, likely providing us with a better explanation as to how Metropolis was rebuilt or how Clark was hired at the Daily Planet. It would be great if Kogge also provided us a look at Bruce Wayne’s perspective during the Zod vs. Supes fight that leveled Metropolis. Oh, and his past as Bats… you know, like how he lost Robin.

However, it’s important to note that it’s a junior novel, so it likely won’t get too graphic or complex.

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theatres March 25th, 2016.
