Flavor of the Week? Not ‘Batman v Superman’

Batman v Superman won’t be a “flavor of the week.”

That, according to the film’s director Zack Snyder. While making his rounds for the “Doritos Super Bowl filmmaking contest,” he spoke with The Daily Beast on Batman v Superman and how the heroes seem different than those of Marvel.

“I feel like Batman and Superman are transcendent of superhero movies in a way, because they’re Batman and Superman. They’re not just, like, the flavor of the week Ant-Man—not to be mean, but whatever it is. What is the next Blank-Man?”

That’s a good question, what is the next blank-man? Maybe just that, Blank-Man! I’m sure Snyder’s quote will be seen as fuel for the DC/Marvel rivalry, although I couldn’t care less. I’m a DC guy, but enjoy my Marvel as well.

Sticking with DC, Snyder responded to thoughts on the bias of Batman, and getting more focus in the upcoming blockbuster.

“Only in that because it’s a different Batman than the Batman that was in the Chris Nolan movies, so we have a little bit more explaining to do—and you just had a whole Superman movie. But I think only in that way, because you need to understand where Batman is with everything. And that’s more toward the beginning, but it evens back out as it goes on.”

Makes sense, and though I really dig Cavill’s take on the Man of Steel, more Batman is fine with me.

We can all sit back and judge… while still thinking of that Blank-man… come March 25.
