Leo Fitzpatrick from ‘The Wire’ Cast in ‘Gotham’ Season 2

Fox’s Batman, crime drama, prequel series, Gotham has been off the air for about 3 months now. Have you been withdrawing the entire time? Fret not, the worst of it is over and it’s only 2 months left until the premiere of Gotham season 2, where we will see the beginnings of our favorite villains like Mr. Freeze, Clayface, Mad Hatter, and the Joker.

Since it went off the air, casting news has been thrown around every few weeks or so. And it hasn’t stopped! During the week, Deadline reported that Gotham has added another actor to its ever-growing roster of thespians. Leo Fitzpatrick has been cast in season 2 of Gotham. The Wire fans may remember him as Johnny Weeks, a heroin addict who committed petty crimes to support his drug habit from seasons 1-3.

Fitzpatrick will be playing an original character named Joe Pike, who is a leader of a gang of arsonists known as the Pike Brothers. Not the most creative name, but hopefully, he’ll grow into something a little more interesting. I mean, when you think of Batman villains and arson, you immediately think of Firefly. Considering that the writers aren’t afraid to change the identities of established villains, e.g. Tigress, it’s very possible this Pike could become Firefly. Of course, that’s all speculation.

As for Fitzpatrick’s acting chops, I can’t comment. Considering his appearances on The Wire and Sons of Anarchy, he’s gotta be good, right?

What do you think? Is Fitzpatrick playing Gotham’s version of Firefly? Is he good enough? Let me know.

Season 2 of Gotham premieres on September 21, on Fox.
