Over the last twelve months plenty of news has been discussed regarding the 2016 upcoming blockbuster Batman vs. Superman. Not too long ago Zack Snyder confirmed what we had been previously discussing, in that Jason Momoa would be cast to play the iconic character Aquaman. Not only was the news made official, but we all got to see a photo with Momoa in character. Seems a perfect fit to me.
Debate has been raised amongst fan groups on how so many characters and rumoured villains will be placed into the one film. To that end, what will it look like? How will it affect the story? And, more importantly, how critical this film is in DC’s attempt at going head on with Marvel. All important talking points.
Jason Momoa recently met with EW, and in that interview he shed some light on his role and how it will be placed into the film.
It’s Batman and Superman. It’s not my movie. It’s the first time in history to have them both on the screen together, and I’m just excited to see those two up there… Justice League is still quite a ways away. But I’m looking forward to it. Henry’s a sweetheart, Ben is a badass, so I’m really looking forward to when we all shoot Justice League.
It seems that the role of Aquaman is strategically placed in the story without having a huge part, but setting up future films such as Justice League. Given the amount of characters, we trust that Snyder will find the right blend in getting all these DC superheroes together.
Jason Momoa continues:
There’s definitely a plan in this whole universe that [Zack Snyder] is designing, and it’s amazing to be a part of it. I think everything that you see that is building, there’s a purpose behind the whole plan… What’s great about this is Zack, man. We don’t want to just reinvent it, but he’s a got a whole idea of what Aquaman should be and I’m really honored to be playing it. I’m excited for the world to see it.
Jason Momoa goes on to explain the first Aquaman image:
I’ve been holding that secret for a long time. Zack Snyder called me up and said, ‘I’m posting this picture now.’ He’s just a genius and I love him to death. He sent it over and we’re in the middle of the editing suite for the thing I’m doing right now, and we all freaked out, man. It was so amazing to see it come out.
