Hans Zimmer Speaks on Ideas and Intentions for Batman v Superman Score

“I’ve got a couple of ideas,” says Mr. Zimmer, referring to the Batman v Superman score as a whole.

Regarding the possible creation of individual, character-specific musical themes for each superhero, he said, “I’m trying.  We’ll put it that way.  We’re in early days, but of yes of course, ideally, that’s what you want to do.”

Most notable, perhaps, is the fact that Hans Zimmer will not write or score for Batman in Dawn of Justice.

Regarding his choice to refrain from scoring the Batman portions of the film, Zimmer said, “…you have to remember that I come from ten years of doing Batman, so it’s really important to me not to betray the work we did with Chris [Nolan]…so it’s [about] reinventing it, and the way I’m reinventing it is that I’m getting my friend, Junkie XL, to do Batman — it’s a bit of a different tone.”

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
