Batman: Eternal #40 Review

Synopsis: It’s three-way battle for survival between Batman, The Riddler…and Mother Nature?

It’s hard to believe that we are already 40 issues into Batman: Eternal. So much has happened, and yet there is so much left to happen in the next 12 weeks. It seems like the final act has taken shape and all hell is about to break loose on Gotham, again.

The issue picks up right where last week’s left off, with Batman and the Riddler buried in an avalanche. The Dark Knight (obviously) digs his way out, as does his foe, and after a little more mother nature drama fly back to the city.

Speaking of Gotham, the former inmates of Arkham that are out and about have been given access to Batman’s goodies and told to get crazy by Catwoman herself, Selina Kyle. But it’s the mystery voice on the speaker that leaves us anxious for the next episode. As does miss Kyle’s chase for Spoiler.

Another fine issue from the folks behind Eternal. This week that includes Ray Fawkes behind the script and Davide Furnó & Paolo Armitano with art duties. Each member does a great job this issue, as it moves along at a quick pace and plenty of nice scenery along the way. There are a lot of characters to get to in this issue, and yet it’s done in a way that’s not too overwhelming. Great work all around.
