Mark Hamill To Reprise Trickster Role On The CW’s ‘The Flash’

This particular bit of casting isn’t for a Batman related project, but given Mark Hamill’s long history with the Caped Crusader, we can’t ignore it. Having been synonymous with the Joker after voicing him in many cartoons and video games, folks sometimes overlook his work as another DC villain – The Trickster.

Hamill first portrayed the colorful rogue on The Flash TV show that ran for one season around 1990 that starred John Wesley Shipp as the Scarlet Speedster. Let’s also not forget that he later voiced the Trickster on the wonderful series Justice League Unlimited. Thanks to HitFix, we’ve learned that Hamill will play a new interpretation of the character on The CW’s currently running hit series, specifically episode 17.

“Having Mark reprise his role as The Trickster was on our original wish list when we were planning our version of The Flash,” said executive producer Andrew Kreisberg.  “Christmas and Chanukah came early for us this year when he said yes!  We are beyond humbled and excited to have him joining us for another round of deadly trickery!”

Here’s the description given for this version of the Trickster:

“Mark Hamill returns in a brand new interpretation of James Jesse (aka The Trickster), a role he originated on the 90’s ‘Flash’ series.  In this new iteration, The Trickster is an anarchist terrorist  con man serving a life sentence in Iron Heights who helps Barry (Grant Gustin) and Det. West (Jesse L. Martin) to foil the city-wide attacks of a wannabe Trickster eagerly following in the original’s deadly footsteps.   The episode will reunite him with John Wesley Shipp who went up against him as the original ‘Flash’ on the CBS version.”

The Flash airs Tuesday nights on The CW.
