‘Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice’ has Finished Filming

It’s been a little more than a year since Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice started filming. It began with a football game between Metropolis State University  and Gotham City University, featuring hundreds of a extras way back in October. Then, January began principal photography and we’ve been clamoring for any and all info since then.

Hundreds of amateur and paparazzi photos and videos began surfacing online, so much so that I needed to start a column to wade through all of it and give you guys an organized peek into the filming of comic book movie history. Alas, the day had to come when all of this would end and it was done very elegantly by Larry Fong via Instagram.

That’s a wrap.

Larry Fong, the cinematographer announced two days ago that that Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice had officially wrapped. Now begins the process of post-production, which, unfortunately, isn’t quite as glamorous as the filming was.

It’s a beautiful shot, but rather than marvel at it, most fanboys have jumped into hyper-speculation mode to determine exactly what is in the picture. This much is obvious: It’s tattered, it’s outside, and it is snowing. Most folks have already been able to conclude that based on the direction of the falling snow, that it is upside and that if you look further down in the lower right corner, you can make out what looks to be a palm. Could this be an arm?

Comicbook.com is speculating that this could be the arm of Batman, lying down in the snow. Sound familiar? It’s pretty reminiscent of the Batman vs. Superman brawl in volume four of Frank Miller’s the Dark Knight Returns epic, The Dark Knight Falls. It’s been more than obvious that Snyder and co. have been inspired by DKR, but I highly doubt that Bats will collapse from an induced heart attack, but it does make me wonder. Maybe Supes does defeat him in the flick?

We’ll find out March 25, 2016.
