Hot on the heels of reports that Jared Leto is supposedly up for the role of The Joker, comes news that his one time henchgirl has been cast for her first big screen role. Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street) has been said to have been in talks to star in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad for weeks now. I figured the role she was up for was that of Harley Quinn and Collider boldly states that they can confirm that’s just who it is. Harley has appeared as a member of the team in The New 52 as well as in the animated film Batman: Assault on Arkham.
Other actors said to be courted for roles are Will Smith and Tom Hardy, with Jesse Eisenberg rumored to reprise his role of Lex Luthor from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Suicide Squad opens in theaters August 5, 2016.
