Junkie XL Joins Hans Zimmer For ‘Batman v Superman’ Score

Speaking with Comic Book Resources, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice composer Hans Zimmer revealed that he will be joined by frequent collaborator Junkie XL. The two have worked together on other superhero films such as The Dark Knight Rises, Man of Steel, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Zimmer had this to see when the subject of creating a new Batman theme came up:

“You know something? I have agonized over it. I agonized over it, so much so that finally, I went, I don’t want to betray what Chris, James Newton Howard and I did. And so I asked Zack [Snyder] if it would be OK if I called a friend in. And I’m going to be working with Junkie XL, who really is a great friend. He just finished the Mad Max score. I said to him, “You take care of Batman. I’ll do the other guy.” And Zack loved that idea. It’s a way out.”

There you have it: the film will not only see two superheroes battle and team up but two composers as well! In other words, Zimmer handles Superman’s side of the soundtrack, while Junkie XL tackles Batman’s. It’s a very interesting approach, I’d say.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. It opens in theaters March 25, 2016.
