Gotham Review: Spirit of the Goat

Gotham continues this week with what I can FINALLY say is a great episode! Oh….how good it was and for the first time, I can say “AH!” when it was over because I wanted it to keep going.

In a nutshell, a villain has returned to Gotham ten years later to continue his killing of the rich’s first-born children. The only problem is, Harvey Bullock killed this guy in their first meeting.

This is a Harvey Bullock episode. After five episodes, we start to see a little more down-to-earth version of the character… something Donal Logue nailed. He feels tortured, confused and actually creeped out in the fact that this once dead murderer has (apparently) come back to life.

There are a few other highlights of the episode, including Nigma who FINALLY gets some screen time. I’m interested to see where this little relationship with Kristen Kringle (“Someone has a sense of humor”). Also, Selina Kyle sneeks into Wayne Manor to steal… and Penguin, ooohhh that Penguin. Remember how I said “AH!” a few minutes ago? It’s because of him. I won’t ruin it in case you haven’t seen it yet, which begs the question why are you reading this if you haven’t watched it yet?!!

Loved this episode and I really hope it’s a sign of things to come with the show. It’s taken a while to find it’s footing and has lacked consistency. Maybe we should be thanking the spirit of the ghost?
