Gotham Review: “Arkham”

Synopsis: The future of Arkham shakes Gotham City.

Another decent effort from the folks behind Gotham. I was excited to see “Arkham Asylum” brought into the show, however a little disappointed in how little it was actually used. It did serve a purpose, and hopefully we’ll get to go inside in the next few episodes.

As for the other parts of the episode, it was okay. I’m not entirely sold on the show yet, but there are aspects I’m enjoying. First is Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot. This guy is simply nailing it! He’s such a scene stealer and I’m totally invested in the direction he’s going, and where he’ll end up (even though we all kind of know).  Ben McKenzie still does a good job as Gordon, Donal Logue is even better as Harvey Bullock… and I’m waiting to see what the hell they’re going to do with Edward Nygma!

It hasn’t met the high standards I hold it for it, but Gotham isn’t a bad show. I just haven’t been drawn in yet, and I hope that time is coming soon. But I can’t help but wonder how long a “Batman universe” show can last without Batman?
