Batman:Eternal #24 Review

Synopsis: Spoiler goes head to head with her father, the deadly Cluemaster – and the fate of Gotham City hangs in the balance!

This is not a Spoiler-free issue. As you can see, she graces the cover of Batman:Eternal #24 and the synopsis shows her as being the focus of the story. They, dear readers, are correct!

Spoiler, aka Stephanie Brown, hops in the spotlight this week after being absent the past few, to continue hunting down her dad, Cluemaster, and keep him from achieving his devilish plans. Cluemaster isn’t working alone…

(Remember him?)

but he’s not working for himself either…

Gee, who do you think is the man in the shadows? Hush now, don’t give it away…

Anyways, Spoiler finds her dad, there’s a battle and a chase, which leads you to believe she has stopped her bad daddy.

Meanwhile, Batman has his hands full fighting a Doctor Phosphorus wannabe…

Which only leads you back to Arkham Asylum. More on this next week, I assume.

But the star of this week’s issue is definitely Spoiler, and a fine job she does with the leading role.  The final page leads you to think this chapter between her and her father is over, but we know better don’t we?

Ray Fawkes took over scripting duties while Andy Clarke handled the art. A fine job both of these men did, too. Fawkes is a hit-or-miss for me, but usually is on-target. As for Clarke, it’s hard for him to not get two thumbs up from me. I first noticed him back in the Batman, Inc. beginnings and I’ve had him on my radar since.

We’re approaching the halfway point (already?!) of Batman:Eternal, and I haven’t a clue which direction we’re headed. That’s not a bad thing either.

Rating: 7.5/10
