Gotham to Netflix in Game-Changing Deal

A storm is coming. That storm is the highly anticipated Bat-Prequel Gotham and it is coming to Netflix in September 2015 in an extraordinary deal between the video streaming service and Warner Bros.  Set to take place next fall, the alleged multimillion dollar deal will bring the show’s first season to Netflix just prior to the yet-to-be-confirmed Season Two premiere at which time Netflix will stream new episodes following their broadcast.

Gotham, set to premiere September 22nd, will follow a young Detective Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and his mentor Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) as they fight through the city’s criminal underworld occupied by Oswald Cobblepot(Robin Lord Taylor), Edward Nygma (Cory Michael Smith), and Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) following the murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne.

This deal follows similar pacts Netflix pacts to lock up  the equally anticipated prequel to AMC’s Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, as well as NBC’s The Blacklist.

This sounds like great news for fans of DC Comics as it could lead to future direct to Netflix DC Comics shows. My kingdom for a serious Swamp Thing or Dr. Fate series. What are your thoughts on what this deal could mean for the future of DC Entertainment and Netflix?
