Batman:Eternal #16 Review

Synopsis: Red Robin is out to solve the mystery of the nanovirus spreading among Gotham City’s poorest, but Harper Row isn’t going to let him do it alone! Can Batwing escape the clutches of The Joker’s Daughter?

Batman’s epic weekly tale continues this week in issue #16, and things get crazy… which isn’t necessarily a good thing. I’ve noticed with this title it’s mostly busting out good stories, then will have a few “mehs”, and will come back firing on all cylinders. This week is one of the “mehs”. The synopsis explains it the best way you could, but didn’t win me over either. There’s too many elements that I’m not interested in: Jim Corrigan and Batwing, Red Robin and Harper Row, Batwoman and Red Hood. We do get Batman… in four panels. I’m sure it’s all part of the grand design, but it’s frustrating to feel like you’re throwing your money away.

Regardless, here are a few things to look for:

  • Spirits
  • Damaged daughter
  • Good cop
  • Under the Vale
  • Here piggy piggy
  • Monkeying around
  • The fire rises

I’m not a fan of this issue. It’s a struggle for me when I’m not getting Batman in my Batman comics. Here’s to hoping next week’s makes a little more sense as well.
