Review: Batman ’66 Meets The Green Hornet #2

BATMAN ’66 MEETS THE GREEN HORNET #2 by Kevin Smith, Ralph Garman, and Ty Templeton

Synopsis: The reunion of the greatest TV team-up of the 1960s continues! The Fearless Foursome struggle to escape General Gumm’s sticky death trap, while the gloating Gumm assumes the worst and plots to take his criminal activities to the next level. His plans for expansion require some expert help from an unexpected source! Assuming our heroes escape, will they be able to overcome this new, deadly duo?

With the 4th of July holiday weekend drawing near and my having to review at least three trades here at DKN this month, a lot is on my plate right now and I won’t be able to get into as much detail for this review as usual. Since this is an issue that I feel deserves some time in the spotlight, I will still take a few minutes to list some of the highlights.

  • A cover by Alex Ross (need I say more?)
  • Kevin Smith and Ralph Garman once again do an impeccable job of capturing the tone and dialogue of the classic TV series
  • Ty Templeton’s fantastic artwork
  • Cesar Romero’s Joker, complete with ‘stache
  • Another crazy cliffhanger (can you end a tribute like this any other way?)

Much like last issue, this is something that no fan of the Adam West era should pass up adding to their collection. It will also do a fair job of holding you over until the Batman ’66 DVD set comes out this November. Score:8.5/10
