Batman:Eternal #12 Review

Synopsis: Jason Bard makes his big play to end the gang war once and for all. And Jim Gordon’s trial becomes a family affair!

After a disappointing issue last week, Batman:Eternal is back on track with an outstanding issue this week. I can’t even sum up everything that is going on, but each story line steps it up.

See?

Here are a few things to look for:

  • Bard’s criminal web
  • Gordon’s escort
  • Hacker
  • Tense trial
  • Bard and Vale sittin’ in a tree…maybe?
  • Walkin’ in on family
  • Catching the bat?
  • Familiar face
  • Spoiler-free?

Ohhh how I want to comment on who that is, but I won’t given the slightest chance you haven’t read it yet.  We are 12 issues into this story, and a lot has been accomplished… yet it seems like we’re moving rather slowly. Don’t think that way. This issue adds to most (if not all) of the plots in the slick web this Bat-title is spinning. The storytelling from James Tynion IV this week is top-notch. The art by Mikel Janin (who?) sucked me right in from the first page.

I made a major commitment to Batman:Eternal. 52 issues at $2.99 a piece for 52 weeks. That’s a lot of time, money and reading. After committing to the first 3 months, I’m all in for the next 9. You should be too.
