RUMORED DC On Film Lineup Through 2018

It seems like we get rumors regarding Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the DC Cinematic Universe as a whole on a weekly basis. I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t give attention to any of them because, let’s be honest, have any of them panned out? It’s only because this story was posted by someone that used to work for Deadline – a legitimate Hollywood news outlet- that I’m willing to give it the time of day. Still, I advise you all to take this with a grain of salt. According to Nikki Finke, Warner Bros. will announce the following slate of DC related films at San Diego Comic Con next month:

May 2016 – Batman v Superman
July 2016 – Shazam
Xmas 2016 – Sandman
May 2017 – Justice League
July 2017 – Wonder Woman
Xmas 2017 – Flash and Green Lantern team-up
May 2018 – Man Of Steel 2

Some of this sounds realistic, especially the inclusion of Sandman, which Joseph Gordon-Levitt is attached to. Shazam could easily be the film Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is involved with, considering he has stated that he will play a character with Superman level powers.

What makes me question this is having Batman v Superman, Justice League, and Wonder Woman released all within 14 months of each other. That is A LOT for Gal Gadot to handle. The Flash/ Green Lantern film prospect makes me giddy, but I’ll believe WB is willing to put Green Lantern on the silver screen again when I see it. And don’t you find it highly suspect that WB’s golden boy in Batman isn’t getting a solo outing with Mr. Ben Affleck before any of these other characters are? I guess we’ll know for certain next month.

Another juicy bit from Ms. Finke’s article is the following:

Meanwhile, if you were wondering why Batman v Superman was delayed, it wasn’t the script or Ben Affleck or Jesse Eisenberg but with the fact that this pic will act as a launching pad for theJustice League. According to my source, “Like Marvel’s The Avengers, there will be cameos of superheroes for future installments. The cameos will include the already known Cyborg and Flash. Green Lantern [not played by Ryan Reynolds, thank god] may be introduced.  And Aquaman will be seen in the Justice League movie. Problem is, Warner Bros Pictures was still negotiating with the actors for those cameos and future roles, meaning major contracts for multiple JL/character films to follow. The studio didn’t want to move forward until they had more of this secure so they held off starting production for a few months. Seemingly simple reason, but the implications are pretty darn huge.”

Does this ring true to you, DKN readers?
