Former MMA fighter/actress Gina Carano addresses Wonder Woman rumors and defends Gal Gadot.
One of the many names that was thrown around by fans for Diana was ex-MMA fighter-turned-actress, kickass chick Gina Carano.
In an interview with the Toronto Sun, Carano slightly addressed those rumors, “That started about four or five years ago, even before Haywire people were saying stuff like that. I was never approached, and I don’t know if I was considered.” She then went on to endorse her Fast & Furious 6 co-star, commenting on her acting ability, “I worked with her on Fast & Furious 6, and she’s amazing. Such a great person with such a solidness in her character, so I’m very excited for her to do that.”
And of course, the all-important issue of Gadot’s size was addressed.
Carano pretty waived off any issues with her size,
“I think people have an idea what they consider Wonder Woman. I definitely know she has been training and there’s so much more that goes into being a strong female character. I think people have their own idea, but I always like the underdog, I’m always rooting for the underdog. If the world says you can’t do something, I couldn’t care less because that’s not how anybody should live their lives.”
Carano definitely has a point and I tend to agree with her, but the problem here is that Carano seems to think that WW is just any ol’ strong female character. Diana’s more than just an archetype, she’s a superheroine and an Amazon with a specific look and feel backed by her rich history. Carano just seems very ill-informed about the character as a whole.
Just pointing out the flaws in her argument. Overall, I still have faith that Gadot can pull it off.
What do you think? Is Gadot in over her head? Or do you agree with Carano?
Let me know.
