Holy DVD Release Batman!

I’m sorry I had to do it, but it’s worth a celebration. According to USA Today, the classic Batman 1960’s TV show is FINALLY coming to DVD in a complete-series set later this year. For years, fans have been pleading to get the series released, but constant battles over rights to characters, rights to the show, etc. etc. have blocked this from happening. Now, thanks to Conan O’Brien first, the fans can be happy.

O’Brien also added a picture of himself and the classic Batmobile with the caption, “The seat smells like Adam West.”

For those of you that don’t know, the original series starred Adam West as the Man behind the cowl, and ran from 1966-68 on ABC and in later years in syndication. It’s credited with many fans as their first experience with Batman.

I know MY Batman is Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Trilogy”, but this show was a big part of my life growing up. Yes it’s silly. Yes it’s RIDICULOUS. Yes it’s campier than 1997’s Batman & Robin, but it’s fun and helped get Batman to the great stardom he has today.

Now stop reading, step away from the computer, and do the Batusi!
