The Batman Beyond Movie That Almost Was

Paul Dini is a man known by many bat-fans.  From his amazing work in Batman: The Animated Series, to his comic work, to writing the first two Arkham games, Dini knows the Batman Universe.  So it comes as little surprise that, during a recent episode of Fatman on Batman, Dini revealed that he had worked on a script for a Batman Beyond live action movie.  While the plans were dropped by WB in favor of Batman Begins, its great to hear him talk about what could have been.

This screen adaptation would have been produced by Dini and Alan Burnett, his fellow producer on the Batman Beyond animated series. Boaz Yakin (Remember The Titans) was attached to direct. It would have told the origins of the new caped crusader, Terry McGinnis, and his relationship with an elderly Bruce Wayne. There were rumors this past July that Warners might rekindle the Batman Beyond live-action movie, but then just days later at San Diego Comic-Con the studio announced that Batman vs. Superman was in the works for summer 2015

Maybe one day Terry McGinnis will get his shot on the big screen, or at least we can hope.
