Rumor: WB Looking at Two Other Actors for Nightwing in Batman vs. Superman

Following the reveal that Adam Driver was being considered for the role of Nightwing in Batman vs. Superman, another source has come forward with two other names.

Yesterday, we reported that Adam Driver was one of the top candidates in the running for Nightwing in Batman vs. Superman. It was also briefly mentioned that two other names were also being considered, but were yet to be revealed. Well, it looks like a secretive source over at SuperheroMoviesNews.com couldn’t quite keep those two names a secret for very long and has supposedly revealed those two other names.

Both of whom seem like capable actors, so, for me, it may all come down to whether or not they look the part.

First up, like Adam Driver, we’ve got another TV drama veteran by the name of Penn Badgley. He’s most known for his 5 year tenure on The CW’s Gossip Girl, but I’ve only ever seen him in this wonderful little romcom called Easy A, starring the radiant Emma Stone. Unfortunately, in that flick, he was relegated to a simple, underdeveloped love interest, but he wasn’t bad at it. He’s gathered an impressive amount of nominations from the Teen Choice Awards, but really, the teens will vote for anyone with chiseled good looks and a nice physique. Thankfully, he’s had some recognition from some more reputable places, but I still can’t quite vouch for him aside from the fact that the dude seems to fit the look of Nightwing… depending on what picture you find of him. Based on what I remember from Easy A, he’s definitely got the chin for it and we all know how important the chin is for a costumed vigilante.

Second, we have a fellow by the name of Ezra Miller. My feelings about this guy are very mixed. He recently starred in a wonderful little coming-of-age dramedy called The Perks of Being a Wallflower last year, which is based on the novel of the same name. Now, this book was particularly special to me, therefore I wasn’t very receptive to their casting choices. I was almost downright outraged when Kevin from We Need to Talk about Kevin was cast. He turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Though people will praise him for his comedic timing, I was more so impressed with his emotionally impactful scene that siphoned the tears out of me. Nightwing could benefit from Miller, but the problem here lies in the fact that he doesn’t look the part at all. The lankiness can easily be resolved with the proper workout regimen, but his features don’t seem to be strong enough for a little domino mask.

Now, let me properly weigh in on the subject. I’m not the biggest fan of Nightwing, so therefore I’m not very fond of the idea of including him in this cinematic universe, but considering WB is going for a more experienced caped crusader, it makes a bit of sense that he’d have had and lost a sidekick. Bruce’s falling out with Dick could be a good reason behind this cinematic Batman’s reluctance to work with anybody else. However, my real problem here is that with each rumor coming out involving the inclusion of Wonder Woman and maybe even the Flash, that movie’s becoming mighty crowded. At the very least, we’re getting some relatively capable actors. To be honest, I would prefer either of these two over Adam Driver. Talk about somebody who simply doesn’t look the part. As stated in the title, this is a rumor that remains completely unconfirmed. For the time being, I think I can safely say that when reading any news regarding Batman vs. Superman, you should have some scrumptious salt at the ready.

What do you think? Are either of these actors worthy of taking up the role of Nigthwing? Or do you prefer Adam Driver? Let me know.
