DC Comics Solicitations for January 2014 for the Bat-fan

DC has released their full solicitations for January 2014 on Monday afternoon. Dark Knight News readers, I have collected all the relevant Bat-related info for you.
2014 is Batman’s 75th anniversary and DC gets right on the celebration this month with several Bat-centric projects and events.

  • Batman #27 continues Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s origin opus. Gordon and Batman have turned the lights back on and this issue leads directly in to the final arc of the story.
  • Detective Comics #27 is a mega-sized 96 page celebration of the original Detective 27 from 1939. The all-star cast of creators includes BIG names like Frank Miller and Neal Adams. The Bat-family of books get a crossover event in Gothtopia. It begins here in a story by John Layman and Jason Fabok.
  • Speaking of Gothtopia, the cross-over stretches across these titles: Batgirl #27, Batwing #27, Birds of Prey #27 and Catwoman #27. What is this world that the heroes find themselves in that just may be too good to be true? Find out in this event.
  • Peter Tomasi serves up several bat-tales this month. Besides Forever Evil: Arkham War #4, he gives us two Batman and… books. First, in Batman and Two-Face #27, he continues Harvey Dent’s New 52 origin with the terrific art team of Patrick Gleason and Mick Gray. Then in Batman and Robin Annual #2 we get a tale of Bruce and Dick dealing with something left behind by Damian. This leads to a Year One flashback for the two. Illustrated by the amazing Doug Mahnke.
  • Forever Evil continues and Batman and his Rogues play an integral part in the series. Forever Evil #5, Forever Evil : Arkham War and Forever Evil: Rogue Rebellion #4 cover the stories directly involving the Bat-cast of characters.
  • Batman continues to battle Toymaster and Mongul with Superman in Batman/Superman #7. Batman/Superman Annual #1 gives us the not so friendly meeting of the Bat-family and the Super-family.
  • Speaking of Batman and Superman, several alternate Earth comics have the two heroes squarely in focus. Tom Taylor brings us Earth 2 Annual #2 gives us the origin of Earth 2’s Batman and then Earth 2 #19 has Batman going up against Superman. But wait, there’s even more Batman and Superman written by Tom Taylor. In Injustice: Year Two #1, the series that explores the world of the best selling video game, continues where it left off with Superman driving Batman and his allies underground. There is also World’s Finest #19 with Power Girl and Huntress revealing their true origins to Batman and Superman.
  • Other bat-books of note: Harley Quinn #2, Damian: Son of the Bat #4, Justice League 3000 #2, Batman: Dark Knight #27, Nightwing #27, Batwoman #27, Talon #15, Red Hood and the Outlaws #27, Batman Black and White #5, Batman ’66 #7, Batman Beyond Universe #6, DC Universe vs. The Masters of the Universe #6, Beware the Batman #4, Little Gotham #10, Scribblenauts Unmasked: A Crisis of Imagination #1 and Scooby Doo Team-Up #2.
