DC’s Injustice: The Story Continues

Today DC Comics wraps up their hugely popular digital first series, Injustice: Gods Among Us, with issue 36. Written by Tom Taylor (DC’s new writer on Earth 2) and tying directly into the popular video game released earlier this year by Nether Realm Studio, Injustice has been a top seller for the publisher. In an interview with IGN, Taylor revealed the plans for the series.

“I knew that the story we were telling in these 36 chapters was essentially the break-up of the World’s Finest friendship. When Superman and Batman’s relationship became irreparable, that’s when our story would end. That tale is told now. However, we have another story to tell in the pages of Injustice, and that story will begin in January 2014.”

Writer Tom Taylor will return with new weekly installments of the series in January 2014. These new chapters will pick up right where Chapter 36 left off.

In an approach we’ve seen in DC’s Arrow digital first comic, the books will tell a specific story. Almost like a TV series season, take a short break and return with a new tale. With Arrow, we saw the comic wrap up with the end of the show’s first season. Its set to return this fall. Injustice will follow the same pattern.

In the interim, we can look forward to an Annual #1 in November and the last chapters to be collected in print in December.

Injustice: Gods Among Us #36 is out now on iTunes, Comixology and Kindle.
