No surprise here, but if you have yet to read the famous graphic novel, now might be the time to put on those reading glasses. Following the announcement of Batman/Superman at this years Comic Con, DC Ent. announced that sales from June to July for the Frank Miller helmed The Dark Knight Returns increased 161%, setting a new record high for The Bat. DC Ent. reports that there has also been an increased interest in JL #22. Looks like hero on hero action is all the rage these days.
It all started with a quote, “I want you to remember, Clark. In all the years to come. In all your most private moments. I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you.” *Mic drop*, exit stage left, and that really was all that needed to be said. Although not completely influenced by Returns, the upcoming superhero team up/face off will draw inspiration from The Dark Knight and Man of Steel’s relationship in the story. Again, if you are looking to hype yourself up even more for 2015, re-read this classic, or check it out for the first time, and be sure to check out parts one and two of the DC animated films.
