Infinite Crisis Profiles Gaslight Joker

Infinite Crisis, WB’s forthcoming Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA), now profiles their steampunk-inspired reimagining of the Joker, Gaslight Joker. Click the jump to see more.

Roll Call! We’ve got the Justice Leaguers, Wonder Woman, Flash, Zatanna, and Green Lantern. And then there are the big baddies, Doomsday, Poison Ivy, and the Joker. And lastly, there are the alternate dimension-ers, Gaslight Batman and Catwoman, and Nightmare Batman.

Today, we’re getting the Gaslight character to complete our Gaslight Batman triumvirate with Gaslight Joker.

Take a look:

After Gaslight Catwoman, it’s refreshing to see them take such an original route with Gaslight Joker. He’s fat, smelly, and disgusting. He carries old ham and instead of hyenas, he uses rats to do his bidding. And based on that move, Blood Money, he’s motivated by cold, hard cash. Sure, he’s still psychopathic, but he doesn’t quite seem as insane, based on the fact that we can explain his motivations, and is obviously much more formidable than the Joker that we’re used to. I mean, he went from a mid-long range fighter relying on toys, to a melee-based tank. I probably will not be using Gaslight Joker, but I love  that Turbine managed a complete 180 with the Joker… you know, aside from making him a very sane, average Joe.

Now, I’m anticipating Nightmare Joker. Wouldn’t it be cool if Nightmare Joker was like a vampire hunter of some sort? You know, as a way to oppose the vampiric Nightmare Batman? We’ll just have to see.

Turbine Studios are currently developing Infinite Crisis. There is no set release date for the game, but beta testing has officially begun. You can sign up here.

How do you like Gaslight Joker? Is this departure too extreme? What do you they’d do with Nightmare Joker, assuming there is one? Let me know .
