CONCEPT ART FOR DARREN ARONOFSKY BATMAN MOVIE

Before Batman Begins came along with Christopher Nolan in 2005 and way after Batman & Robin in 1997. Warner Bros were deciding on choosing between  Darren Aronofsky’s Batman: Year One  & Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins. According to sources, the Aronofsky’s Batman movie was going to feature Bruce Wayne as a homeless vigilante who is not a billionaire and is living off the streets of Gotham.  Alfred is an African-American mechanic who isn’t even called Alfred but instead called Big Al. Also Batman drives a souped up Lincoln Towncar. Also Bruce Wayne gets the idea of Batman because when he beats up wrong-doers down on the streets of Gotham he punches them with a mighty ring on his finger bearing the initials of his father: Thomas Wayne… T-W… which ends up looking like a bat symbol on the foreheads of said criminals… hence The Batman. Aronofsky has said he still wishes to adapt this story into a comic AND/OR eventually make it into a movie.

The story line sounds really out of this world, which messes with the mythology of how Bruce Wayne became Batman as well as how the other characters interact with him such as Alfred. The script was penned by Darren Aronofsky and Frank Miller, which would explain a lot about why things seem a bit unconventional. At least with Christopher Nolan’s script on Batman Begins stuck with the some of the similar notions on how Bruce became Batman. Truth be told, this script would have been a cool graphic novel. However, there is already a graphic novel out there that has similar elements of Aronofsky’s script. It’s called Batman Year 100 by Paul Pope. If you haven’t read the novel yet, you can pick it up because it is a real bad ass read and the novel holds a lot of Frank Miller’s influences.
