Batman” actor Christian Bale is blasting Chinese Government

WND posted a story that Christian Bale took a strong stand last week against the “horror” of  the Chinese government forcing abortion policies.

“Batman” actor Christian Bale is blasting the “horror” of the Chinese government’s one-child policy, in which women are forced to abort their unborn children because of population limits imposed by the government.

Bale, in a report at MovieGuide.org, said a “program of forced abortion means that women are being dragged from their homes against their will.”

“They are being forced to have abortions, sometimes late-term – imagine that – with some women reportedly dying in the process,” he said.

Bale’s comments at a Human Rights First event also were documented by Godreports, according to the Movieguide report.

He had praise for Chinese activist Chen Guangcheng, who had publicly stood up to oppose the government’s policies in China.

Chen “had exposed a program of forced abortion and sterilization in Shandong,” Bale said at the event.

“This is true horror,” he said. “And, in this insane world, this man, Chen, who was helping these women, who was living by some of the most simple, brave and universally admired values – values we teach our children every day – and helping our fellow man, for this, this man was imprisoned and beaten for over four years.”

News reports confirm Chen was under arrest in China in 2011 when Bale tried to visit him but was prevented.

“What I really wanted to do was shake the man’s hand and say ‘thank you,’ and tell him what an inspiration he is,” Bale said, according to the Movieguide report.

Bale has played “Batman” in the last three movies of the series, including “Batman Begins,” “The Dark Knight” and “The Dark Knight Rises.”  He won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his portrayal of Dicky Eklund in “The Fighter.”

Ted Baehr, founder and publisher of MovieGuide, said: “What Christian and Chen are doing here is truly heroic. We applaud them both in the strongest terms.”

The report said there also was praise from Reggie Littlejohn, of Women’s Rights Without Frontiers.

“Christian Bale has become a human rights champion in his own right. He risked his safety to visit Chen last December. His attack by Chinese thugs brought visibility to Chen’s case. This visibility greatly helped the international effort to free Chen. And, Bale is brave to condemn the practice of forced abortion in China.”

Dr. Jim Garrow, who has launched the Pink Pagoda Girls campaign to raise $1 billion over the next 10 years to save the lives of a million baby girls in China by facilitating their adoptions by couples outside the communist nation, said the foundation for the one-child policy – that overpopulation was threatening China – is a lie.

Garrow has already been credited with saving thousands of baby girls in China who otherwise would have been killed by their families under the one-child policy.

Garrow was executive director of the Bethune Institute’s popular Pink Pagoda schools in China, which are private, English-only institutions to prepare Chinese students to apply to the top universities in the world.
