Review by James Attias

Detective Comics #1106 brings the saga of The Lion to an explosive conclusion! Let’s roar about it!

Fear is Why You Fail

As well as this being a wonderfully written, wonderfully drawn and beautifully tragic tale for our Dark Knight. This issue also shows us a philosophical side of society, that I for one, was not ready for. What would you do if you weren’t afraid? Would you rob a bank? Would you quit your job? Share your feelings with that special someone? The Lion want Gotham to be free of al it’s fear. When reading this I found myself asking that very question. What would I do if I had no fear whatsoever? No worry of any kind of consequences. Let’s just say me pursuing my career as an actor again wouldn’t ruffle many feathers. But we see a great amount of huge life decisions in the pages of this book that beg the question, is the villain, The Lion… Right?!

Two Hurt Children of Gotham

This was a great story. I can’t recommend it enough, to people who are well into their comics, or just starting out, this is well worth a read. It shows us so many different elements to Batman and Gotham. Taylor really does hit all his marks on this one and is the current gold standard of comic book writing. As well as the art in this issue being absolutely sublime, Mikel Janin, bravo! I wish that these two would take on the main Batman title after the current run ends, not through any other reason then more people would get to read and see their fantastic work.

Conclusion

Detective Comics #1106 gives us the perfect ending to this saga, next up… Enter Green Arrow and Black Canary!
