Batman and Robin #30 shows us that the dynamic duo need to work together, before everything falls apart!

The Son Becomes…

This has been an excellent storyline for Batman and Robin. I was worried that the long story telling, full of characters old and new would punish the book, through no blame of their own. But now that the story finishes here we can exhale and take a breath of relief as this was a perfect, complete compact story, that plants seeds for the future and doesn’t leave the reader wanting in any way.
The Quiet Man was a very interesting character, started out as a quiet assassin, then evolved into a grizzly Punisher-esque character who had a vendetta that shook Gotham’s rogues to their core.
The real MVP of this entire run has been Damian. Allow me to elaborate. Damian has been a character in the comics for 20+ years now. Introduced at around the 9 or 10 year old mark. He has been Robin for most of that time. When he was introduced he was an arrogant, obnoxious, little psychopath who would kill anyone who irked him in the slightest. By the end of this story he’s a teenager, he has a personality, he has empathy, he has shown real growth as a detective, a kind human being, a son and a hero. At the end of this book Damian is the best he’s ever been. So I’m begging everyone at DC, including Matt Fraction on the main title. Don’t let Damian down. Please. The growth of the characters is the main reason we read these books for decades. So please keep it coming.

Where to Next?

This is the last issue of this run, no word yet if there will be a follow up or if we’ll find out about any of the other loose ends from earlier in the series. But for now for your Batman and Robin fix, you’ll need to read the man Batman run, ongoing and being reviewed by Dark Knight New’s very own Max Byrne. This has been a great run for the characters that lasted 30 issues, here’s hoping we don’t have to wait too long to see them back together again. Because when the dynamic duo get together, great things always happen!

Conclusion

Batman and Robin #30 is a great final issue of the run, great work by all involved.
