Batman day is coming again this year with comic book giveaways and other special events.
The annual celebration of the Dark Knight has comic book shops, libraries, and book stores participating in some festivities.
The Warner Bros Studio Tour lot in Burbank has a special Batman-themed tour. In addition to the other tour sights, the studio tour is will feature DC-themed trivia and special photo ops. It will feature iconic props, comics and costumes from the Batman and other DC movies. Guest will receive a copy of Batman & Robin Year One #1. The tour will end with a special screening of 1995’s Batman Forever to celebrate the movie’s 30th anniversary. Tour prices are $89 a person and can be purchased here.
Your local participating comic book shops are also giving away free Batman comics. They are giving away free Batman day Special Editions of Absolute Batman #1, Batman and Robin Year One #1, and Batman: Year Two #1. Absolute Batman gets some special attention. The special edition features a sick new cover by series artist Nick Dragotta that homages Batman: Year One. They will also have a blank sketch cover and foil cover variants on sale for Absolute Batman #1.
Originally, DC also offered a special Gotham City Sampler comic as a free giveaway. The sampler gave previews of new titles, like Nightwing, Batman #1, and Red Hood. However DC now requested retailers to not pass out copies of the comic book in light of the now infamous and sudden Red Hood cancellation. However, the other comics will still be available for free giveaways.
Fans can celebrate Batman Day on September 20th this year.
