Review by James Attias

Batman and Robin #24 takes us to the end of the Gotham cycle, but will Batman and Robin make it out alive?

Expecting Someone Else?

It’s not often that Batman finds himself tied up and in need of help. Unless the title of the book is Batman and (insert anyone’s name here). So seeing The Dark Knight put faith in his son and partner to come and help him is growth. This story has come a long way from showing a young Bruce learning the ways of the detective, and Damian showing PTSD from failing to save someone. The mystery was really fleshed out, with added elements of demons and the supernatural, it kept me guessing every step of the way. But much like Steven King, we all know the ending is the hardest part. This book has a pay off. I feel the pay off will be received much better in the collected edition, rather than the monthly issues, but it was a good ending. With glimpses looking back, looking at the now, and looking to the future. What challenges will face the dynamic duo next? Who knows?

Wayne Of Gotham

A lot of Internet trolls always say Damian is their least favourite Robin. Those people probably haven’t read many comics in the last 15 years. As Damian’s growth has been one of the most interesting and well put together character arcs I’ve ever seen. Not to brag but I’ve read every DC comic that has been published since 2011, and many many before that. Seeing him go from the entitled brat, to the superson, to the young man and hero he is today has not happened overnight, I for one have enjoyed every page of it. I can’t reveal how this book ends, but there is a story told and it really fills me with hope. So keep your eye on this kid folks. He’s a hero.

Conclusion

Batman and Robin #24 is a great ending to a complex and full story, I can’t wait to see how the creative team builds on this going forward!
