James Gunn Confirms ‘The Batman Part 2’ Doesn’t Have Robin

DC Studios co-head James Gunn recently clarified that there is no Robin in The Batman Part 2.

The rumor first spread that Robin would appear in the sequel after a report from Jeff Sneider came out. The article said that allegedly version of Robin would show up in the film. However, Gunn now confirmed on Threads that is certifiably false.

Gunn went on to say how only a handful of people have seen the script for the sequel since director Matt Reeves turned it in at the end of June.

“Guys please stop believing this nonsense. I think six of us have read the script. No one knows anything about the Batman 2.”

‘The Batman Part 2’ Shooting Soon

In related news, The Batman Part 2 announced it will begin filming in spring 2026.

Reportedly, the filming will take place at Warner Bros Leavesden. That is where production on the first The Batman occurred. This has yet to be confirmed.

This should put it at around maybe 8 months from now. Why the long wait?

Batman actor Robert Pattison is wrapping filming for Christopher Nolan’s Odyssey movie. Additionally, Pattison also needs time to film Dune Part 3.

All of which is fine. This long wait time can allow pre-production to set up and prep for the movie before the cameras start rolling.

The news comes to a blow for some fans who are aching for Robin and Batman on-screen. In addition to The Batman Part 2‘s long pre-production schedule, they will also need to wait for “official” DCU Batman film: Brave and the Bold. Despite having Flash director Andy Muschietti attached to the movie, there has been nary a word of news on its production. It is unclear when that film will also come out.

The Batman Part 2 hits theaters October 1, 2027.
