DC Reveals San Diego Comic Con Events and Panels

DC Comics released their schedule of panels, as well as exhibition booth activities for San Diego Comic Con.

DC has a plethora of panels, as well as creator signings, con-exclusive merchandise, and in-booth events for SDCC. Dark Knight News will focus on solely the Batman-related events, but fans can check out the rest of the awesome stuff at their web site.

DC Comics Panels

DC panels will feature previews of upcoming comic book story lines. There are the general DC Comics panels, like “Jim Lee & Friends” or “DC All In”, but there will also be a Batman-centric panel “DC Comics: Gotham City”.

Panelists include Matt Fraction (Batman), Scott Snyder (Absolute Batman), Dick Dragotta (Absolute Batman), Kyle Higgins (Immortal Legend Batman), Daniel Warren Johnson (Absolute Batman 2025 Annual), and more. 5:15PM – 6:15PM. JIM LEE & FRIENDS. (DC Panel)
Jim Lee (DC President, Publisher, and Chief Creative Officer) is on hand to bring out a few of his friends for discussions and reveals that will have everyone talking long after the Con is over! You won’t want to miss this. Moderated by Jim Lee. Room: 6BCF

‘The Joker is Wild’ Trivia Game

At the DC Comics booth on the Comic Con exhibition floor, there will be a Joker-themed trivia game called “The Joker is Wild” hosted by Shazam! writer Tim Sheridan. Fans can play a trivia game that is also a slot machine. For people who struggle at DC knowledge, Justice League Unlimited writer Mark Waid will be on-hand to assist fans. If you do well, then you might be able to win some prizes.

The event occurs every day during Comic Con at 6pm at the DC Comics booth.

Batman Con-Exclusive Merchandise

DC will have a lot of merchandise for sale that are Batman-themed. They will sell t-shirts, pins, and hats featuring the new Batman comic book logo that will debut in Matt Fraction and Jorge Jimenez’s run.

DC will also sell exclusive covers to comics and trade paperbacks. They will have special edition foil covers for Absolute Batman #1 featuring a new cover by Jae Lee and a “Bat Symbol” foil variant of Batman #158.

Also available are exclusive editions of the Absolute Batman Vol. 1: The Zoo hardback collection. The Absolute Batman collection will also feature dust jackets by Jim Lee. There will also art prints of Batman #158 “H2SH” cover by Jim Lee and Batman #163 “H2SH” tryptic also by Lee.

Off-Site Con-Exclusive Merchandise

Outside the DC Comics Booth, McFarlane Toys will be offering some exclusive Batman figures.  This is to celebrate McFarlane’s launch of a Batman-Superman Fusion Digital Collectible whatever that means. The Batman figures will be The figure features a metallic color schemes that is hand-painted by McFarlane, a cap personally signed by the artist, and comes in custom packaging sealed with a silver foil sticker, and individually hand-numbered for authenticity. There are only 12 figures in existence, so fans aren’t able to readily buy them.

However, McFarlane will raffle them off lottery system style. In order to get a chance to win the figure, fans need to purchase a Batman-Superman Fusion digital collectible using a credit card. Then they will be automatically entered to win one of 12 Legendary figures.

You can do that at the Image Comics booth at the Comic Con exhibition floor.

Mondo and Funko also have more Batman related exclusive toys. They will be selling POP! Heroes: Kingdom Come Batman collectible figure, the original Batman and Robin Funko Pop! vinyl figures (POP! Heroes: Batman 2010 and POP! Heroes: Robin 2010) as “Blueprint” and “Greenprint” variants. They are essentially the Funko Pop toys, but given a green or blue color scheme and dotted lines to simulate a blueprint lines. They will also offer a “Knightfall” Azrael figure as a SDCC exclusive.  Unfortunately, no pics where available of these figures yet.

San Diego Comic Con starts Wednesday July 23rd at the San Diego Convention Center.
