Actor J.K. Simmons recently spoke briefly about whether he will reappear as Commissioner Gordon in upcoming DCEU movies.

In a conversation with Collider, Simmons admitted that he has not heard any news about returning as Gordon. However, the actor revealed that there have been talks about the character. In the meantime, fans have to sit tight and wait for more information as it is revealed. Simmons on Gordon:

There are conversations going on, that I’m not going to make public. As far as I know, there’s no opportunity, in the immediate future, for me to do more Commissioner Gordon, but I continue to be optimistic that it will happen again.

Potential Film Prospects for Gordon

While the details are hazy, there are a lot of different upcoming DCEU movies Gordon can potentially be in. On the immediate horizon, there is Cathy Yan’s Birds of Prey, which is due to start production in January and could possibly be be set in Gotham City.

Looking further ahead, there is Adam McKay’s Nightwing and a possible Batgirl film. Both characters have close ties to Gordon in the comics, so it’s not a huge stretch to include Simmons in either film.

Finally, there is the on-again-off-again Batman movie helmed by Matt Reeves. Once the studio clears up rumors and actually starts shooting, Gordon’s inclusion is sure-fire.
