Hot on the heels of Alfred’s casting, the Alfred-prequel series Pennyworth has Thomas’s announced that Thomas Wayne will be played by Ben Aldridge.

Aldridge is a British actor who is known for shows like Our Girl and Reign. Despite being from England, Aldridge is set to play an American Thomas Wayne.

Here is an official description of Thomas Wayne’s character on Pennyworth.

A young, fresh-faced billionaire hailing from the East Coast of the United States. Confident and extremely disciplined, this young aristocrat meets an unlikely business partner in Alfred Pennyworth.

Wayne in Pennyworth sounds like that he will be partners with Alfred in some security firm – as written in the show’s synopsis. Why would an American doctor become partners with a British war veteran is unknown, but then again, why would a billionaire CEO of a successful company continue to practice medicine?

With that in mind, how does Alfred go from being business partners to being a butler. That sounds like a real downgrade in careers.

On top of that, how many versions of Thomas Wayne are we going to see now? At first, it was Jeffery Dean Morgan in Batman v Superman. Next, it’s Alec Baldwin in the solo-Joker movie, then, it’s not Baldwin any more, but Brett Cullen. Now, here comes Aldridge.

Quite frankly, I am surprised that I’ve written two articles about Thomas Wayne castings in my lifetime, let alone three within a few months of each other.

Production for Pennyworth is scheduled to begin October. The show will air on Epix.
