New York Comic Con 2017 starts TOMORROW and the news keeps rolling in—don’t expect it to slow down anytime soon. In a newly released interview, Lev Grossman, the bestselling author of The Magicians, discusses the importance of Watchmen and his take on the upcoming Doomsday Clock release from DC Comics.

Grossman is a legitimate fan of comics. He read Watchmen when it was first released in 1987 and when he worked for Time put the book on his Top 100 of all time list. He celebrates the importance of that book by calling it a novel—not a graphic novel or a comic book, but a novel. You can tell in the interview that Watchmen means a lot to him, so much so he was initially suspect of Geoff John’s Doomsday Clock.

“If Geoff wasn’t scared, he should have been scared,” Grossman says of the project. It’s a big undertaking. Watchmen is one of the most beloved stories of all time and to have that world collide with the rest of the DC Universe could be dangerous. Grossman will be grilling Johns as he moderates the highly anticipated Doomsday Clock panel at NYCC on October 5th at 6pm on the main stage.

NYCC 2017 kicks off TOMORROW and our very own Kevin Gunn and Sharna Jahangir will be at there to report for DarkKnightNews.com!

New York Comic Con begins this week and Friday’s DOOMSDAY CLOCK panel remains one of the most anticipated of the comic convention. Lev Grossman, author of the #1 New York Times bestselling Magicians trilogy and former Time Magazine book critic, is set to moderate the discussion with series writer Geoff Johns.
