In July of 2016, before we knew the release date for Justice League Dark, a YouTube account under the name Mr Marbles released the official sneak peek for the upcoming flick, way ahead of its release date. The video was never taken down by DC/WB, so presumably the account is affiliated in some way.

Now, over a year later, the same enigmatic YouTube account has released the official sneak peek for the upcoming Batman: Gotham by Gaslight. The video likely comes from the upcoming Blu-ray release of Batman and Harley Quinn set to release on August 29th.

At a whopping 8 minutes, we get a pretty good look at the flick. Footage is spliced in between interviews with executive producer Bruce Timm, Creative Director of DC animation Mike Carlin, and writer James Krieg.

“You’re still going to be surprised by what you see in this movie”

Take a look:

The animation style seems a little cheap, as if the budget wasn’t that much more than a TV animated series. However, I’ve never really let that prevent me from watching a good story. As expected, the inclusion of Jack the Ripper makes this a bit gruesome. The featurette also revealed that Selina Kyle will play a large part. You can also glimpse what could be cameos from Poison Ivy and Hugo Strange. All of whom are not in the book. In fact, Carlin also admitted that there will be surprises in store even for fans of the book.

Known as the first Elseworlds comic, Gotham by Gaslight puts the Batman in a Victorian steampunk alternate past where he must confront Jack the Ripper.

Currently, no release date has been set.
