It’s official, Season 2 of the Supergirl television series will finally get a guest appearance from the Man of Steel himself: Superman.

Warner Bros. TV announced that Superman will make an appearance in Supergirl. The first season of Supergirl, starring Melissa Benoist in the titular role, relied heavily on the Superman comics as its source material. The show has utilized everything from famous Superman characters like Non, Toyman, Jimmy Olsen, or Cat Grant, to specific Superman stories as inspiration-such as For the Man Who Has Everything. Ironically, outside of shadowed or child-aged cameos, Superman himself has never made a full appearance until now.

Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg had this to say about Superman:

“Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl. Superman will be appearing in the first two episodes of the new season and we cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape!”

While there has been no announcement on will be cast for the role, one can assume that it will be a different version of Superman that we have seen in the Christopher Reeve or Henry Cavill movies. Who can be the next Man of Steel?
