A couple days ago, David Ayer tweeted a photo that marked the end of principal photography on Suicide Squad and I’m extremely excited for the movie. The comic-con trailer was awesome and I was one of the folks who really enjoyed the brief appearance of Jared Leto as the Joker. Based on those few precious seconds, it feels he’s going to be the most insane live-action Joker yet.

A few days ago, prior to Ayer’s announcement, Robbie was featured in an interview with the NY Daily News wherein she briefly discusses Leto’s turn as the Joker, commenting that it’s “pretty impressive.” She continued by saying, “what he’s doing with the character is so cool.” She also mentions that working with him in full Joker regalia was at first very intimidating, “At first it was kind of confronting, but now I’m so used to it. I think if I ever saw him out of makeup now I would be really confused.”

She then goes on to explain why she believes Suicide Squad is different and thereby more fun.

I guess the one common denominator is we’re all bad guys, it just makes everything more fun that way The scenes are more interesting, I feel, when you just don’t know how the characters are going to react, especially with Harley, who’s absolutely nuts… she’s either going to kill you or laugh and give you a hug.”

Robbie just seems like the best choice for Harley Quinn. Apparently, she was also up for the role of Sue Storm in the Fantastic Four reboot that recently took a beating from the box office and the critics. She briefly discusses that in the interview. That would have been weird. I guess it worked out for her.

Suicide Squad is set for release on August 5, 2016.
