As the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice draws ever closer, it’s expected that it will grace the covers of prominent entertainment magazines. One of the first to earn that privilege is that of Empire. You can check out the cover of their next issue above, which bears some stunning new images of the titular characters. It’s probably safe to assume some new photos will be inside the issue as well.

Director Zack Snyder took some time to speak to the magazine about the differences between Batman and Superman, at least in this film. “There is just this gravitas to Batman. He is operatic.” As for Superman: “In this movie, everyone has split into different directions as to how they feel about this alien. Some people love him, some hate him. Other people fear him. Is he a tyrant?”

He also talks a little about the upcoming slate of DC films that will feature a variety of characters who will get the spotlight in their own movies. While Snyder will helm Justice League movies, he wants those working on films featuring the likes of Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash, and others to have creative freedom. “I want all the other directors of the other films to be able to stretch their legs and do what they want, but at the same time there is a big interconnected universe.”

The new issue of Empire hits stands this week.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens in theaters March 25, 2016.
