Do we ever have a treat for you today. If you’re a fan of film trivia and “what ifs” like I am, this should really pique your curiosity. Images of unused Michael Keaton Batsuits sculpted by José Fernandez have surfaced online. Some speculate that these were from Tim Burton’s unproduced Batman 3, but two of these photos have been identified as being from the production of Batman Returns. Regardless, this is some great stuff.
The suit in the first two photos looks very similar to the sonar suit/ disco armor that Val Kilmer wore in the final act of Batman Forever, only with the yellow bat oval in place of the eventual giant black bat. The third looks pretty cool as well, but I prefer the former or the suit we got in the finished film. And don’t sweat the grey coloring – these were prototypes and would’ve been colored all black had they made it to film.
